Madlib Painting
"Grotesque Ear"
|
Medium: Acrylic paint on 18x24 drawing paper. | This project was made in my 2011 Drawing I class at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The project started by the professor having a two buckets full of slips of papers and the students selecting a slip of paper from each blindly to form the subject matter of the painting. The first bucket included verbs that will describe the subject matter, and the second bucket included nouns, which were particularly body parts. I selected at random, "Grotesque" for my verb and "Ear" for my body part for my requirements for subject matter. I decided to paint the ear on a relatively large scale for impact on a brownish (suggestive of wood but not detailed so the viewer wont focus on it) background and the ear being beaten up, cut, split open, and at the center, an emerging boil that is oozing pus and blood (the boil actually emerges, I layered paint). |
