Medium: Pine wood, acrylic, polyurethane, cotton sheets | This project is from my Drawing 3D: Foundations class at the University of Nebraska-Omaha during my Fall 2012 semester. This project objective was to make "any" box desired, as long as it is to be used in the future by the artist and it is to be constructed of only pre-cut pine wood boards, screws, and either painted (MUST be an animal print of some sort) or polyurethaned, but I chose to apply both aesthetics. I decided to make a toolbox that holds my acrylic paints and has other compartments for brushes or other supplies to be transported and stored easily. I decided to paint my box instead of polyurethane at first because I love acrylic paint, and what a great opportunity to apply to the box what it is to hold: acrylics. Since the requirement was to use an animal print, I used the design of a leopard frog, and later decided to polyurethane it for weather protection while transporting.
