Medium: Colored Pencil on 11x15" paper | This project was a two-part diptych project for my Spring 2013 Life Drawing I class focusing on the techniques of Chuck Close. For part 1 on the left it required a collage of two to three photos of yourself, arrange them in a new composition, and then use the Chuck Close technique. I decided to take three photos of myself, going from a sad expression in high contrast, to an expressionless face, to a low light happy expression face, then I cropped them together in Microsoft Paint in a way that looked like a glitch in a video game almost. This project took an extreme amount of time with colored pencils, and the grid I made was 22x30 squares, and in each individual square, I manually colored in the square making sure to leave an even space between the gridline to give it a mosaic feel, but sticking to the techniques of Chuck Close. On the second part to the right, we were required to take a photograph of yourself in an environment, mine being me in my front yard, then take the same grid on part 1, and stretch and shrink the grid lines so the finished work will be abstracted by the time you finish working it.
